A DAY OFF


Oppressed by the demands of an ongoing lawsuit, Wayne imagined taking a day off from the daily routine: a feather tickling her with the idea of playing hooky, the keys with which she locked up the studio, an erotic encounter at high noon, sunset, and a return to work with her X-acto knife.


It was published by the artist in 1981, Each image is on a sheet of Wayne's own Rives measuring 12 1/4  X  10 1/2 in. presented inside a clear Mylar "Silk" folder.

"Now it's late afternoon, it's dusk, time to relax. Now the feather reappears, but it's got an X-Acto blade near 17 it saying, in effect, that's that! Time to go back to work 'So it was only one day off, that's all."
